Life Update

It's been a little while since I've talked about stuff going on in my life, so here's a quick update! :D


I've finished my hd_collab fic, and am just putting the last touches on my hd_eighthyear entry, so I am now officially without writing commitments! (Well, until hd_erised comes around again, anyway :D) I thought about getting involved in both the hd_fan_fair and bottom_draco fests that are getting ready for sign ups, but in the end I decided against it. I'm really not all that interested in the Pottermore theme of the former, because I tend to think that the world ends with the last words of the book (well, before the epilogue, because fuck that noise tbh) and is then passed on to the fans to do with as they wish, and Pottermore just strikes me as unnecessary. I know other people don't feel the same way, and I'm glad they get some enjoyment out of it, but it's just not for me so, maybe next year? I looked over at the bottom!draco prompts, but nothing really grabbed me, so I'm happy to leave that one too. Although I hope it's still on next year! But right now I'm comfortable in the knowledge that I've written 17 (holy shit!) HP stories over the past year, so I'm not really feeling the need to throw myself into all of the fests, like I was earlier in the year. I do have a few ideas for expanding my Sweet Dreams fic that I wrote for this_bloody_cat's birthday - I'm thinking of turning it into a series of short fics, jumping back and forward in time, giving little glimpses into Harry and Draco's life together. Just for my own amusement really.


Has anyone here watched the Netflix series Sense8? YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS SHOW OMG!!11! No, seriously, it's so awesome, my friend described it as "it's so good and so weird and so wonderful." Because it is, it's super weird at times, and you're not sure if you're even supposed to be laughing or if it's just really bad acting, but you get over that pretty quickly because everything else about this show is perfection. Like, a trans character! Played by an actual trans actress! Lesbians! Gays! A very religious female Hindu scientist who can make bombs out of spices! An African bus driver! A kickass North Korean business woman! Daryl fucking Hannah! And let's not forget the orgy! An honest to god ORGY, where everyone who's getting off gives no fucks about whose hands are on whom, good God, it was delicious. I mean really, YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS SHOW!!!11!



I really love summer, guys. My mum used to say that she was sure I was at least part reptilian, because all I ever want to do with my life is lie half asleep in the sun. And it's true, I do! Ben has been home from work the past two days, so all I've been doing is laying around in our garden, soaking up the sun and trying to forget the fact that I have a house to clean and a job to do and kids to look after. I really hope the weather stays like this for a while, because man, I hate it when British summers last for like a fortnight before going all dull and grey all over again. Just let me have some sun, okay? Although, they could take the hayfever down a notch, because I don't even suffer from it usually, but the pollen count is so high this year that even I'm suffering from itchy eyes and gross phlegmy sneezes and a stuffed up nose. Not cool, summer, not cool at all.

Oh also, my eldest has started her work experience this week, bless her heart! She came home last night absolutely knackered, and fell asleep before I could even finish making dinner. It's really weird looking at her right now, because until now I've never seen her wearing anything other than either her school uniform or skinny jeans and superhero t shirts, and all of a sudden she looks so grown up in her blouses and tailored trousers, wearing actual shoes on her feet rather than Converse sneakers. She's also been doing her hair nicely, which is extra weird because I wasn't even sure she knew what a brush was! I don't like this growing up lark, I really don't.


So yeah, that's me recently. What have y'all been up to?
