Did you read it for school? Because I've found a lot of people who just couldn't like the books they were given to read for classes. Something about having to read something that makes it hard to see it as anything other than a chore, possibly. However, there are some people who just don't like it, and I can understand why - it's very strong, emotion-wise, and the characters are all majorly fucked in one way or another. However, I do urge you to give it another go if you're thinking about it; at the very least it's a well-written and evocative story, even if the emotions it invokes aren't always pleasant.
OH OH YOU MUST READ SONG OF ACHILLES!!! Like, I have no words to properly convey how wonderful this book is. I had a full on breakdown in the best way reading it, you HAVE to get a copy!!
