TV talk and some other stuff!

I have some feels about television shows, and I have a need to talk about them, so.
I've given up on Gotham. I gave it a couple episodes, but it's just really not for me. It seems like it's trying to come across as dark and edgy, but instead it's just coming off as terrible. I mean, this is a show about superheroes and supervillains, go with the cheesy, dudes. I guarantee you'll be all the better for it.
Speaking of cheesy, I just watched the pilot of The Flash, and oh, man, is it fantastically cheesy! I love it, and it's even making me wish I'd kept up with Arrow, because I have a feeling there's going to be some seepage within the two shows. But anyway, it's fun and outrageously ridiculous, and they just run with that premise and make the whole thing completely nutso in the best way. I sense absolutely no ships - at least, none of my particular type; there is of course the requisite love triangle (dear God, why?) - and so far it seems easy and watchable. And sometimes you just need an easy show, am I right? Something that doesn't try to rip your heart out and stomp on it on a regular basis. I think The Flash might end up being that show for me this year.
Of course, heartbreaking shows lead me into the premiere of Supernatural's 10th season, and woah boy, was that a mess. Demon!Dean? Not so much demonic as 14y/o boy in the midst of a tantrum, to be honest. Cas is just all over the place characterisation-wise (does he want to be human or doesn't he? Make up your bloody minds, writers!). And Sam, well, he was basically just window dressing for this episode (although very pretty dressing, obviously). Crowley was pointless, and literally the only good thing about the episode was some dude whose name we didn't even get. Not off to an auspicious start, Supernatural. Must do better.
I'm still ever so in love with How To Get Away With Murder, and I'm on tenterhooks for the new episode tonight. This is definitely my current favourite show, the only one I'm counting down the days until I get my next fix right now. Oh, also Legends, but that's mainly because Sean Bean, to be honest, because other than that there's not much to say about the show as a whole.
Anyone else got some tv shows they're loving (or hating) right now?
In other news, my
hd_erised fic is done, betaed, and submitted, which is excellent news. I'm not bragging (well, maybe a little bit, haha), because I know that others are still working their way through theirs, and this was literally the only thing I've been working on, and I needed to get it done by this week, because I know I just won't have time in the coming couple of months. But actually, I'm really freaking proud of this story; it's the third longest fic I've ever written and then put out for people to read, and it's one of the few of my own that I get a kick out of rereading. I just, I really love it, y'all. This fest has really given me a confidence boost in my writing, so I thank all of you who directed me over there back in August *kisses*.
My Mum and Stepdad are coming up to visit us in literally a week (ohmygod help), so I'm having to clean my house from top to bottom. I love my mother more than life itself, but she's a neat freak, and likes to tell me quite often that I'm lazy (I am) and should work harder at keeping the house clean. "My house never looked liked this when you were growing up," is one of her favourite sayings. I could point out to her that when we were growing up, she was at work all day while we were with a childminder, so there was nobody in the bloody house to mess it up, compared to me, who works from home and has two children under 10 who like to paint the walls with sticky handprints (my mum wisely waited 10 years between me and my younger brother), but instead I usually just roll my eyes and show her to my cleaning supply cupboard. So, downside of this visit? I get less time on the internet to read gay porn, and I get a lecture on how to be a better housewife (please, mother, like you even know what that is, you're just ever so slightly OCD). But the upside? I get to see my mum, whom I adore, and the kids get to see their Grandad, whom they adore, and I'm pretty sure all of my ironing pile will get done by someone other than myself by the time they leave again. Sounds like a fantastic deal to me.
Right, now I'm going to go and start another Rectober post! How is everyone else? Having good weeks so far?

Date: 2014-10-15 07:12 pm (UTC)Despite multiple people telling them they have no right under CCL to steal our intellectual property, they refuse to stop. Right now, as me and others dig for the proper way to shut them down, we can only warn people they've stolen from and let you know that you can complain, and they seem to be removing entries. This person actually said to me in response to me saying what they were doing was wrong:
“and why not? Until they explicit deny it, i have all right to do anything. Its basic freedom rights of peoples. If you dont want to you fanfic been read or copied, dont make it public.”
They then edited that comment because CLEARLY they know they’re in the wrong, but I’ve got the email in case anyone wants a screencap. The thing is, they aren’t going to stop.
If you wish to complain you can go here:
http://fanfic-journal.com/complain-here/
Be clear because they are slimy. Request they delete all your entries and never copy any more.
Best wishes, and sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
