Dudes, how do I put an LJ cut in a comment? Like, I thought if I just typed in the HTML code for it, that would work, but it doesn't, so either I'm doing it wrong, or there's something special that you have to use which is probably really obvious but I can't figure it out because HTML makes my brain very very confused. So, can anyone tell me how this commenting miracle is achieved? Is there a particular deity to which I must offer sacrifice?

I don' think you can leave LJ cuts in comments, I think you are thinking of a spoiler tag. Which is the word spoiler in < followed by the comment, and ending with /spoiler in brackets

OH I SEE!!

Because I've seen that on some comments, with things like "hidden for spoilers [click to open]" or whatever, and just assumed it was a cut, because it does exactly the same thing as a cut!

LMAO I am so stupid, thank you for setting me straight, sweetie! <3

Yep. You mean a spoiler cut. This FAQ will tell you how to make it, just follow the HTML editor / commenting form:
