All About Me

So.  I originally joined LiveJournal so that I could read more TVD fanfics from authors I really admire, and so I could join the TVD Mixing community.  However, I’ve never posted anything myself, as any fanfics I write I put up on FanFiction.net.  But recently, I realised that I have many feelings about many characters and pairings (most of them slash or femslash, because I’m freaky like that), and also about many different TV shows and/or book series.  So, I’ve decided that I’m going to use my LJ account to air my many emotions on a wide variety of stuff, most of which would probably not be appropriate for places like vampire-diaries.net, and also wayyyyy to long for places like Twitter.

So with that in mind, I figured my first post ever should probably be about me, so anyone reading this can get to know me a little better, so that none of my loud and unrepentant opinions freak people out too much.

First of all, I’m 30 years old, which is probably a little too old to be fascinated with a teenage show like The Vampire Diaries, but when most of the actors are actually my age, I don’t think it’s all that weird.  I have three children, all girls, so the amount of bitchiness my poor husband has to put up with is astronomical.  And also pretty hilarious on a daily basis.  I'm a little bit of a goth; I wear a lot of black and I listen to goth/metal/rock bands.  I’m British, so my humour tends towards the dry sarcastic kind, and I have very definite opinions about all kinds of things.  Because of that, I probably come across as a monumental bitch, but I’m actually quite nice!  I’m blunt; I say what I think and I have no regrets about it, but I do try to be respectful in how my words come across.  I am also an unrepentant sexual being; I like sex, I like to do it and I like to talk about it and embarrassment is an alien concept to me.  My friends say that the reason for this is because I had my first baby so young, and it is true that once you’ve experienced a group of guys staring between your knees at your va-jay-jay while you can’t even see your toes at the age of eighteen, there’s not really a lot that can make you blush.  I’m also not that easily upset; if someone says something nasty to or about me, I shrug and move on, because I really don’t give a fuck what people think of me.  Oh, and I also swear a lot.  Since I'm probably going to be writing a lot about TVD, I should probably also mention that I am a DE shipper.  This is a new thing for me, as I have never shipped before.  I also don't think I'm doing it right, because I am perfectly comfortable with seeing both parties of the pairing with other characters.  Except SE of course.  Because gross.

The kind of stuff that will be posted here will probably be completely random.  I have a PhD in English Literature, so many of my thoughts may be put down in essay form, although I will try to not be too boring!  I will probably be doing reviews of TVD episodes, both retroactively and current, along with some reviews of other TV shows whenever I can be bothered.  These will probably be a mixture of analysis and sarcasm, plus some venting of the deep-seated rage that I have for some of the characters.  I may do some expositions on specific characters, plus the odd occasional book review, if I think of anything interesting to say.

So, this is me.  If anyone feels I might be interesting, check out whatever I have to say in upcoming posts!

Hi Lauren,

I'm so glad you posted this entry about yourself, it was nice to learn even more about you than I know already. I came across here for the same reasons you did. It has taken me about 10 months to get comfortable with the site, but now that I am, I actually prefer the intimate setting, and community feel a lot.

Another thirty year old! Yes! I turn 31 in November. I feel much less alone when I read your age. Three girls? Wow, that's awesome. PhD in English Lit - wowzers!

I cannot wait to read more of your opinions on here.

Hey Michelle!

Haha, another thirty year old! Us oldies have to stick together, lol! I hope I can get used to posting on here, it's all a bit daunting at the moment! Like you, I do like the community feel already though. Hopefully people will find the things I have to say interesting and/or amusing, when I actually get round to putting my thoughts down into actual words!
